Énergir has issued a request for information for renewable natural gas producers to increase the quantity of RNG in its gas system.

Quebec utility Énergir has put out a call to renewable natural gas (RNG) producers in North America, asking for information about long-term commitments for RNG volumes.

The company is looking for commitments to supply volumes between 70 and 100 Mm3 annually, ideally delivering before Oct. 1, 2024.

Quebec legislation requires gas distributors like Énergir to deliver five per cent of their RNG volumes for the fiscal year beginning October 2025 and 10 per cent for the fiscal year beginning October 2030.

Énergir is asking bidders to submit their responses to the Request for Information (RFI) by Nov. 18, 2022. The company will then invite the selected projects to participate in request for proposals (RFP) that will take place during the winter, with the goal of contract volumes by the end of spring 2023.
